Main Features
If you're new to our information system, here's a brief overview of the main features. If you have any comments or questions, or feel there's something missing, please
let me know
and we'll try and answer them for you.
Notices
Information is key to the success of NHW and notices allow these details to be made available. They are grouped by importance and split by region, allowing to access local information that's of benefit, and interest to you.
Notices can be accessed on-line, or e-mailed to you automatically when new details are available, through our "Round-up" newsletter.
Automated e-mails
One of the advantages of this site is that it actually doesn't require you to keep checking it for new information. Instead you can sign up to our automatic e-mail service and let it do the work for you! By doing this, you will receive any new details that are published automatically by e-mail through "Round-up", our regular newsletter. In addition, you can also request urgent alerts for the entire area or a specific region you're interested in - e.g. where you live. This also means you won't be inundated with information you're not interested in; that will already have been filtered out.
Apart from your e-mail address, which we keep to ourselves, no other personal information is required. You don't even need to remember a password!
Statistics
Statistics give a picture of the types of issue that have arisen recently in your region. Over time they show the trend of activity as well as the results being achieved to resolve them.
You can also link to the national police database to narrow down details to your post code, or compare other areas of the country, either by area or by approx. street.
As with notices, statistics are available on-line and also by e-mail if requested.
Contacting Someone
There may be times when you have an issue or concern, a general question, or information you believe may be of benefit to the community. Our "Contacts" page give you a single point of access, either to your myself, your local NHW coordinator or other related agency such as the police or local council.
Simply select the appropriate link to be taken either to their web site or e-mail, or for contact numbers by phone.
Administration
Any group, such as NHW takes time to organise and arrange. We are lucky in that our local police have a dedicated team helping the community with this and other matters. This is particularly important for crime-based details where getting information out to us quickly could in fact change the overall outcome of the case.
The site is designed specifically to help with this. Not only can NHW coordinators be contacted through here, they can also publish information remotely as required. Details can also be categorised to ensure only interested people, and those living in the appropriate area are notified, thus targeting the correct groups and preventing unwanted "noise" e-mails being sent.
On top of this, other agencies can forward their notices to us directly, allowing details to be published more quickly - important for, say, missing person reports.
Statistics are automatically captured from the police system when new details are published there. This ensures you're always up to date with the latest information and can see the effect particular initatives are having within the community.
We hope you find our site useful. If you have a question or think we've missed something that would be of benefit to others, please let me know. Just click the button above to send me a message.
Thanks, Benny.
